I love love love all things mermaid..who doesn’t! And what could be more whimsical? Today’s mani was inspired by a lovely mermaid rearview mirror hanger that my mother got for me on her trip to Florida. These took me forever to do.. so many steps. I have a video, I promise it’s coming soon (videos take Forever!!) – I’ll post an update when it goes up on my youtube channel. But for now let’s just enjoy the pretty pictures shall we. 🙂
Ok ready, here we go with the steps..
~For the tail scales nail I started with a base of Zoya Leslie topped with one of the new Bundle Monster Holo Vinyls. I then used Zoya Mimi & Charla to do a purple/green gradient over it. Then in reverse over that I sponged a gradient of the super sparkly KBShimmer Too Pop To Handle and She Twerks Out.
~On my index and pinky nails I have Sephora by OPI It’s Hippo To Be Square, a light purple creme, for the base. And I used OPI The Sky’s The Limit to do a water spotted spray marble.
~The ring finger features a vertical gradient with Zoya’s Rayne and Leslie. Stamped with part of some kind of underwater plant image from HeHe plate 012 using piCture pOlish Dragonfly.
~The gold mermaid silhouette was tricky. I have 1 mermaid decal from Ever After Polish. Not only did I not want to use my only one but, it’s black. Sooo I turned it into a decal with acrylic paint and a gold glitter polish.. it’s too much to explain here so I guess you’ll have to wait to see the video.
UPDATE: Video tutorial showing how to do all three techniques from this design is live on my youtube channel now!
I can’t believe this is the first mermaid mani I’ve done. And don’t you just love my little mermaid dangle. She’s so pretty! 🙂
