Hello Nailistas and a Happy Impossible Astronaut Day to my fellow Whovians! If you’re scratching your head saying “what??” let me explain. You may have heard of an incredible television show on BBC called Doctor Who. Well April 23rd 2011 was the day that the creepiest Doctor Who monster ever was introduced, The Silence. They’re terrifying, and as soon as you look away from them you forget you ever saw them.. Characters in the show started drawing tallys on their arms to remember how many times they’d encountered one. To mark the day The Impossible Astronaut episode aired Who fans around the world sport tally marks on their body. And of course being nail art loving fans we just had to do manicures.
Seriously creepy right! – If you haven’t started watching the show yet. Go do it, do it now (start with the episode “Rose”) You can thank me later! 🙂
For my mani I wanted a nice nude base color. The blue glitters and shimmer in Potion Polish Beach Break made it the perfect start for a Doctor Who nail design. I used black acrylic paint for the #tallymarks and I made advanced stamping decals with my only 2 Doctor Who plates. The 11th Doctor’s jacket and bowtie image is from MyOnlineShop plate JR-31. And the TARDIS (the Doctor’s phone booth spaceship/time machine) is from a custom group buy plate called Stampaholic 3 (I’ve seen it for sale on Aliexpress before but I can’t seem to find it at the moment). I stamped with MdU White and filled them in with various OPI and Zoya polishes. Zoya Sia (Tardis blue), OPI It’s a Boy (light blue), Zoya Louise (brown), and Zoya Elisa (red bowtie).
I love these! Happy to add another pretty Doctor Who nail design to my collection of Whovian manicures. 🙂
