Hello my pretties! I have something new to the blog today.. my 1st Gel Polish review! I love gels, I don’t use them on myself too often but I do use gels exclusively when I do nail parties and manicures for other people. So new colors are always exciting to me.. especially ones that are as bright and fun as these, they are sure to be a hit with my “clients” as well. The Gelish MINI Hello Pretty Collection is inspired by Japanese fashion, “from nail art to street style every detail is bursting with color and personality”.
Now, as I’m new to swatching gels please forgive me if I use the wrong “gel polish terms” I would imagine they would be described just like regular polish in terms of application but if I make any mistakes in my wording please let me know.
Gelish MINI – soak off gel polish
Hello Pretty Collection – Summer 2015
Magna-Round With Me is a bright neon coral creme. It’s much more vivid in real life than my camera could capture, just gorgeous! You know me and my neons. 🙂 Formula is a bit on the thick side, but I think that helps with opacity. Shown here is 2 coats, the application itself was smooth and easy.
Tokyo A GoGo is a light but bright orchid purple creme. Very opaque with smooth and even coverage in just 2 coats. I did note that the color on the nail is a touch lighter than it shows in the color ring on the bottle.
Anime-zing Color! looks from the color on the bottle like it will be blue but IRL is much more purple or blurple. The color is fabulous but I had a couple of issues with it. I experienced quite bit of pulling back at the tips so I had to cure each nail right away. Also I had some wrinkling on the 1st coat cure, but the 2nd coat and top coat seemed to smooth it out. I don’t know if that’s a regular occurrence with gels, I’ve just never had it happen to me before.
Do You Harajuku? is a stunning mint green creme with surprise silvery blue shimmer. I LOVE that shimmer! (I kinda wish all the colors had it). The formula was sort of runny so it had tendency to pool at the sides and along the cuticle if I didn’t do a quick cure. The color was worth a little trouble though in my opinion, it’s just so pretty! Shown here is 3 coats.
Pop-arazzi Pose is a hot dark pink with a squishy crelly finish – is “crelly” (creme/jelly) a gel polish word? The formula was perfection. Not too thick or too thin, just a nice easy application that was opaque in 2 coats. I also noted that it was brighter than the label color shows.
Look at You Pink-achu! is a bubblegum pink shade, not really neon, more of a medium pink. Lovely color, (matches the bottle ring color exactly in real life) but looks lighter in my photos than it actually is. Nice even application, here is 2 coats.
I didn’t have any Gelish Top It Off top coat so I used an off brand instead, that unfortunately wasn’t nearly as shiny as Gelish would’ve been. If I swatch for them again I’ll have to go out and pick up a bottle so the colors can shine to their true potential. The colors cured fully in just 20 seconds under my Gelish 18G LED lamp. I only wore these shades for around 3-4 days each but I had zero chips or tip wear with any of them. They held up beautifully, I’m sure I could’ve kept them on for more than a week easily.
Did you know that all Gelish colors are also released in regular nail polish versions as Morgan Taylor! I had no idea they were one in the same. What do you think of the Hello Pretty collection, which is your favorite?
