Ringing in the New Year with Zoya Sparkle shades and GLITTER!

Hello Loves! Can you believe it's 2013?!? The world as we know it did not end (yet). And there's lots more nail painting to be done.. My new years resolution was to devote more time to working on the blog. Which means trying to do more nail art and making a serious effort to post more often. Well so far I think I'm off to a good start, I have photos of 2 manicures saved in my camera to post over the next few days and some review stuff on the way.. my hopes are high. I think 2013 will be a good year!

So here's the mani I wore on NYE and for my daughter's 2nd birthday on New Years Day. My baby loves the color purple so I did a glitter gradient using Zoya Mimi for the base and Zoya Charla as the base on the accent nail.
I just got these 2 along with Ivanka during Zoya's BOGO Dream Box promo and I was so excited to use them. (all are from Zoya's 2010 Sparkle Collection). Turns out I like them even more on the nail than in the bottle, both are truly Fabulous! And both have Zoya's signature flawless formula and application.

Mimi is a metallic royal purple sparkling with hot pink flecks and Charla is a aqua blue metallic with beautiful turquoise flecks. Both have a duochrome flash to them that's simply stunning! There's so much depth and dimension to these, they're like nothing else in my collection. I used 3 thin coats of each and they went on like buttah!

For the glitter tips I used Piggy Polish ~ Teal It Like It Is (which just happened to be the Perfect match for Charla!) And the accent nail glitter is Piggy Polish ~ Among The Stars, in the bottle and worn alone it looks much more purple than it does here but it's full of pink holographic glitters that lighten it up a lot in thinner layers.

To make the gradient I wiped off as much glitter as possible from the bottle brush and just swiped it on starting very lightly at the middle of the nail and worked my way up dabbing on more the closer I got to the tip. Then I added a generous layer of topcoat to smooth it out. .

To be honest I was kind of apprehensive about this mani at first, I thought it reminded me of that sports team that everyone wore the Starter jackets for in jr. high school.. you know the one. I'm not into sports at all..
But it didn't take long for me to fall in love with this mani, team colors be dammed, it's gorgeous!
And I'm so glad I was able to capture some of that elusive duochrome in my photos, from the swatches I've seen of those Zoya's it's pretty hard to catch.

Polishes from Zoya's Sparkle collection are still available on the Art of Beauty website for $8 each.
And Piggy Polish lacquers are available at Ulta online and in most stores. And just FYI if you use Ebates they're doing 8% Cash Back at Ulta this week!

Till next time friends..
