Voodoo Lacquer ~ Winter/Holiday Collection Swatches & Review

Ready for more pretties from the up and coming indie brand Voodoo Lacquer.. You may remember the swatches I posted of Heather’s Halloween Collection, if not check those out HERE. (by the way there’s still a few of those on sale at her Etsy store). She went a whole different direction with this set and it came out Awesome!
Lots of pics in this post.. and as always I saved my favorites for last.
Voodoo Lacquer ~ Winter/Holiday Collection 2012
Full of sheers, shimmers, holos and glitters!
Silver Bells is a sheer metallic silver with tiny silver and holographic silver glitters. Since it’s sheer it can be worn alone or over another color.
I used 3 coats here, 2 would’ve been enough but I love the glitters in there and I wanted a little more. The application was great, that little bit of funkyness on my index finger is because my glue basecoat was getting a little to thick, I needed to water it down some.

Sugar Plum Fairies is a sheer metallic-y light pink with small fuchsia and holo silver glitters. Could also definitely be worn layered over other colors, I think it would look really good over white.
I went with 2 coats by itself. This was the only one I had any issues with, it seemed a tad thicker than I would’ve liked. I ended up adding a few drops of thinner to fix it. But other than that I really like it, I love pinks and the color and combination of glitter is beautiful.

Fa La La La La is the only glitterbomb in the bunch. It has red and green microglitter, fine holo silver glitter, fine red and green glitter, small red and green hexes and fine white hex glitter all in a clear base.
Perfect for the Holidays! And I love how the holo glitters add that twinkling rainbow effect.
This was one coat over OPI Black Onyx. Application was amazing, I didn’t need to do any dabbing or placing glitters, they spread evenly and laid flat. I didn’t even need my usual Gelous topoat, I only used one coat of Seche to smooth it out.

This is Mulberry Spice. One of my favorites of this collection. It’s a gorgeous deep almost chestnut red with tiny holographic silver glitters and best of all it’s a holo! That’s right there is just a dash of holo pigment in there giving it that added beauty and shimmer.
She actually sent me a second bottle of this after she heard from some people that her first batch came out  too thick.. How’s that for customer service! She replaced it before I even noticed the problem! I tried out the first one and she was right, it was kinda gooey. But this one was perfect. No application issues at all. It went on super smooth and covered beautifully in 2 coats.

O’ Christmas Tree is an emerald green shimmery holo with tons of sparkle, it has small red, purple, gold, and turquoise holo glitter. This one is also sheer but easily buildable to opacity. Another stunner here, I got so many compliments on this one.. The scattered holo effect is much more pronounced in real life.
I used 2 coats for these photos. Because of the shimmer finish you can see some slight brushstrokes (which usually drives me insane) but it was barely noticeable and really didn’t bother me at all.

And my absolute favorite from this Collection is Winter Bliss.. a baby blue holo with silver holographic glitter. *Drool! It’s a nice strong linear holo too. it really reminds me of a blustery winters day. The color looks so soft and delicate but when the light hits it there’s an intense blue flash.
This one is also sheer, maybe even a bit more sheer than the others. I used 3 coats here but that just added to the beauty by being able to see the glitter shining through from the under layers. She has a swatch on Etsy of what it looks like layered over black and it’s fabulous. I’m definitely gonna try that sometime! If you’d like to see her pic click HERE.

Correct me if I’m wrong but as far as I know this is the first time I’ve seen an indie brand mix holo and glitter into one polish… I LOVE IT!   I was super excited when I opened my mail to find this collection. It was so much more than I’d expected! And she told me she has another collection based on Rockabilly songs already in the works, and she may do a few Valentines Day polishes too. I can’t wait to see them.
Voodoo Lacquer is available on Etsy and ranges in price from $8- $8.50 for a full size (15ml) bottle.
And make sure to check out Voodoo Lacquer on Facebook for info on her upcoming collections as well as any special offers or promotions.
