Hello Nailistas! I have some pretties from a brand spankin new indie brand to show you today! I Love discovering new indies, as I’m sure we all do 🙂 So I was super psyched when Heather from Voodoo Lacquer contacted me to ask if I would review her polishes. This Halloween Collection are her first 4 polishes and I hope to see lots more to come. Lotsa pics in this post so lets get right to it.
Voodoo Lacquer’s Halloween Collection
Pumpkin Head has a light orange shimmer base with small green, orange and black hexes and larger orange hexes. Easily buildable to opacity but I like to layer so this is one coat over OPI Black Onyx.
Formula was great, I didn’t need to do any dabbing or placing of the glitters at all. And I Love the way the green sparkles!
Haulin Hearse has a sheer black base with just a hint of blue to it. Tiny red and silver glitters and larger silver hexes with a few black hexes here and there. I ended up using 2 coats because I layered it over a gray polish thinking it would show through but the base is so pigmented that it wasn’t showing through evenly, I could see my brushstrokes so I had to add another coat.
The silver hexes are a little thin so they seem to have a slight curl to them but they lay completely flat on the nail. I asked Heather about it and she said she’s using a different glitter in her next batch.
Witches Brew is by far my fave of the bunch. Green and purple baby hexes with royal blue holo hexes in a blue jelly base… Gorgeousness!
Again this could’ve probably been layered to opacity all on it’s own but I chose to do one coat over black to make the green and purple glitters really pop. Great application here too, no fishing, no dabbing.. I Really Love this polish!
And last but not least is Glowin Ghoulies a glow in the dark green with tiny black glitters. In the bottle it reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. 🙂 This is 2 coats over Zoya Purity. It seemed like the white base made it that much more neon green.
Formula was perfect, great consistency. And being a neon it has the matte like finish and dries really fast. And boy oh boy does this baby GLOW!
As you can see here it glows when it’s not even dark! All I did was turn the light away for the first pic. The middle pic is immediately after I shut off the light (it’s so bright it’s actually lighting up the skin around my nails!) and the 3rd pic is a full 10 minutes later still glowing Strong! I only have a few glow in the dark polishes and of them all this one glows the brightest and for the longest time.
(All swatches are shown with Seche Vite top coat.)
Voodoo Lacquer retails at $8 for a full size (15ml) bottle with the exception of Glowin Ghoulies which is only $6.50 and are available at her Etsy Store.
